Deactivation of the Check Clearing System

Considering the evolution of payment systems in Angola, Banco Nacional de Angola announced in a press release dated April 12, 2024, that it would discontinue issuing checks and consequently discontinue accepting them.
To this end, EMIS has announced the following compliance dates:

• From 31/12/2024 the discontinuation of issuing checks, i.e. banks cannot deliver checks to their customers;
• From 31/12/2024 the discontinuation of accepting checks on deposit or for cash withdrawal.
